OUR STORY

Symphonies for Seniors is a student-led group, dedicated to sharing the beauty of classical music with senior communities. Through live performances, we aim to bring joy, foster connections, and enrich the lives of seniors while offering young musicians a chance to engage meaningfully with their audience. Up to June 2026, we've held over 80 successful performances across South Florida.

Chance  Song

Hey everyone! My name is Chance Song, and I am incredibly proud and grateful to be the founder of the Symphonies for Seniors non-profit organization. I founded Symphonies for Seniors after witnessing how deeply music comforted my grandmother during her recovery from an aneurysm she suffered when I was nine years old. I visited her rehabilitation center three to four times a week, and on Saturdays, I often brought my violin into her room to play for her. Even in the middle of a difficult recovery, I could see her mood brighten as the music hugged the space around us. Soon, other residents began pausing outside her doorway to listen. Some smiled quietly, while others clapped along to the variations of Baroque and Romantic tunes I decided to play that day! Those moments revealed to me that music could reach beyond a singular individual and become a shared source of consolation in times of distress. Inspired by the residents’ reactions, I founded Symphonies for Seniors to bring live classical music to senior communities and offer young musicians an interactive way to serve through artistic performance!

Future Goals & Commitments of Our Founder

I am excited to announce that I will be attending Stanford University as part of the Class of  2030! With these accomplishments, I hope to one day attend medical school and pursue my aspirations of becoming a vascular surgeon. My ambition for medicine was ignited by my grandmother’s rehabilitation after her aneurysm, and that experience continues to guide my desire to serve others through compassion and empathy. As I begin this next chapter, I remain committed to the mission of Symphonies for Seniors. I hope to continue expanding our organization so that more young musicians can share live classical music with senior communities across different cities, states, and eventually countries. In the future, I envision Symphonies for Seniors growing into a lasting network of performers who wield the power of music to provide solace and joy to seniors all around the world!
